Give to United Way

Help us solve the 757’s biggest problems and give everyone the opportunity to thrive.

Save the Date

Join us for the 2021 Women United Virtual Fall Gathering. Come be inspire by our keynote speaker, Dr. Mamie Parker, our work to transform the lives of women and children in the community, and joining together as female philanthropists for the good of the 757.

Given the current rise in COVID cases in our area, we feel that convening a large group is not in the best interest of our donors or organization. While this was a difficult decision, as a health and human service agency, the health of our community must remain a top priority.

Still, we promise an experience that is sure to be memorable and inspiring! And, for those who feel comfortable, we are suggesting small group watch parties to provide a taste of the in person comradery and networking we all love.

Stay tuned for registration information and we hope to see you there!

About Our Keynote

Dr. Mamie Parker is a biologist, conservationist and executive coach. The youngest of 11 children, her interest in the outdoors started in childhood, inspired by her mother, a single parent, sharecropper and outdoorswoman. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and a MS and Ph.D. in fish and wildlife management and limnology from the University of Wisconsin. Highly regarded as a pioneer in her field, she was the first black Chief of Staff and leader of a United States Fish and Wildlife Service regional office.

She now sits on the boards of directors of the National Wildlife Federation, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment and The Virginia Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, among others. Most recently serving as the past chairman of the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources board, the Governor enshrined her into the Hall of Fame for her accomplishment of serving as the first Arkansan to rise to the Head of Fisheries in this country. A Presidential Rank Award winner and an advocate at heart, she has worked with The Links, Incorporated and Alpha Kappa Sorority, Inc. to advance diversity and opportunities for minority students in STEM fields.

She has shared her story on NPR's Morning Edition and many publications. You will experience highlights of her life overcoming barriers to break through a male-dominated industry and the importance of empowering others to do the same. A true inspiration, she reminds us all to “lift as we climb.”
