South Hampton Roads Earned Income Tax Coalition

VOLUNTEER!

Volunteer Positions Available:

  • Tax Preparers
  • Greeters
  • Baby Sitters
  • Translators
  • Tax Transmittors
  • IT Specialist
  • Site Coordinators

Whatever role you choose, you will be an ambassador for the Coalition and much needed, free services it provides to taxpayers who are unable to afford the $200 - $300 fees charged by professional tax preparation services. What you will receive in return is pricesless: a chance to change the world one family at a time.

The Coalition provides free tax preparation assistance at 14 locations in South Hampton Roads.

VITA Volunteer certification classes are offered in early January. This three day class prepares you to take the IRS Intermediate VITA Certification.

To preview and familiarize yourself with tax law portion of training, check out “Link and Learn”, available at www.irs.gov. An IRS practice lab will be available online to all volunteers following training and certification.

Volunteers serve 4—6 hours per week of volunteering. The tax preparation process takes approximately one hour per client. Hours at VITA sites vary, we will work with you to determine a schedule that meets your availability.

Hands-On Volunteer Opportunities at Wesley Community Service Center, Inc. | Print |

to serve as mentors/tutors in after school homework program at Brighton Elementary School between the hours of 3:30 and 5:30 P.M.

to serve as meals deliverers in a meals on wheels program on Wednesdays between the hours of 11:00 A.M. and 1:00P.M.
