Have you ever taught a child to read? Helped an elderly couple save their family home from foreclosure? Provided counseling to a victim of violence?
You have if you’ve donated through United Way. Your gift makes our entire community stronger as children succeed in school, neighborhoods turn around, and families have solid jobs.
We always have, and always will, fund essential and urgent services – food, shelter, preschool for low-income families, emergency services for victims of violence, and support for local military families while a parent is deployed.
But, with thousands of children dropping out of school every year in South Hampton Roads, we realized there’s even more work to do. So United Way’s new initiative, United for Children, is building a powerful coalition of public and private partners to drive educational success for our poorest children with enough force and focus to break the cycle of poverty.
Please join us. Donate today and help us guarantee a healthy, vibrant community today – and in the future.
