Accountability

United Way of South Hampton Roads is a local, autonomous nonprofit organization run by a volunteer board of directors representing all areas of the South Hampton Roads community.

United Way is accountable to its contributors and undergoes separate audits each year for the United Way Campaign, Combined Federal Campaign, Combined Charities Campaign and Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign. An independent regional accounting firm conducts these audits. Additionally, a volunteer Finance Committee and the volunteer Board of Directors monitor United Way of South Hampton Roads use of funds monthly. Financial audits are available to the public for review and are published in our Annual Report.
