About the Women's Leadership Council

“Why am I involved? To make a difference by raising funds that empowers women to beat the odds and be independent. Also, to encourage other women within our community to do their part in partnering with United Way to help our community.”

Dawn Glynn, Events Council, WLC Member
President, TowneBank Chesapeake

Women's Leadership Council is a local network of over 700 women leaders dedicated to improving the quality of life for women and their families in this community!  When you join the WLC, you can participate on our councils, attend networking and educational events, promote the WLC to other interested women and volunteer at local agencies.

Consider making a difference in someone’s life in South Hampton Roads. You possess the ability to feed a hungry child, shelter an abused woman, and give someone an opportunity for a better life.

How can you join? WLC members pledge at least $1,000 annually to become a member. The Women’s Leadership Council is united by our passion for our mission—to advance the common good in our communities to make a better life for us all.
