About Day of Caring

Day of Caring was established in 1991 to promote the spirit of volunteerism, increase awareness of local human service organization and demonstrate how people working together for the common good can accomplish great things.

We match local volunteers in the South Hampton Roads community to nonprofit organizations and schools to complete tasks such as landscaping, painting, gardening and direct client support. Participating in Day of Caring promotes workplace unity, builds morale and shows leadership in the community.

Beginning in June United Way of South Hampton Roads will collect project proposals from our agency partners of tasks that they need completed. In mid June the United Way will reach out to our community partners to volunteer on our annual Day of Caring held in September.

Day of Caring is a fun filled day of hard work, excitement, and neighbors helping neighbors to help build and maintain a stronger South Hampton Roads community. For more information please contact doc@unitedwayshr.org.
