10 for 10 Match Partners

10 for 10 Challenge Match grows the WLC Endowment Fund

“I believe the time has come for women to become independently involved in raising and directing their philanthropic monies.  I do hope in time we will create our own project that will benefit the women in the community that need assistance in creating a life for themselves and children that is financially and emotionally self-supporting.”

Ten women giving $10,000

Building an endowment fund from the ground up is our unique strategy that mobilizes women to become powerful philanthropists through leadership giving.  The WLC Endowment Fund was created to provide a legacy of continuous support for programs that serve the needs of disadvantaged women and their families. To accomplish that goal, the Ten Women Giving $10,000 initiative or “10 for 10” was begun.  Now in our 6th year, this distinctive group of sixty women has collectively contributed $600,000 toward the WLC Endowment Fund.  At today’s luncheon, please congratulate and honor those women who’ve demonstrated an exceptional commitment to philanthropy.

As a WLC member, you also have the opportunity to participate in this ground-breaking effort.  Each year, WLC members are eligible to designate up to 50% of our pledges to the Endowment Fund, thereby joining the ranks of the 10 for 10 philanthropists in creating a legacy through your giving.  Because our pledges and gifts to United Way are annual gifts, each year we must renew our support for the WLC Endowment Fund. Please remember to check the box as you make your pledge today!

10 for 10 Challenge Match

What is the challenge match*?  Ten local women philanthropists have provided the WLC with a $100,000 Challenge Match to encourage women to give at the Beacon Society Level ($2,500) and the Tocqueville Society Level ($10,000).

How does it work?  When you join the WLC and increase your gift to the Beacon or Tocqueville levels, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar.  For those currently giving at the Beacon or Tocqueville levels, an increase of $1,000 or more above your current gift will also be matched dollar for dollar.

For example, Susan Jones currently gives $1,000 through payroll deduction. Susan increases her pledge to $2,500, and her gift becomes eligible for a matching donation of $2,500.

Another example, Mary Brown increases her pledge from $10,000 to $11,000, activating the match for an additional $1,000 contribution to the WLC campaign.

*Only contributions of $2,500 or more to the 2011/12 WLC/United Way Campaign are eligible for the challenge match.  For more information please contact:
